The thing that affected me most about the shooting in Newtown was this guy.
This is Robbie Parker, the father of Emilie, a six year old who was killed that day.
He was the only parent, so far, to speak out about his child’s death. He sort of became the face for these grief stricken families.
The reason it was so personal to me was because I feel like we’re in similar boats.
I do realize that your child being shot to death in their elementary school is worse than your father dying in his sleep when you’re 16.
But Robbie and I both had the father-daughter relationship with our loved one. And that rare and beautiful relationship was cut tragically short with no warning, and no goodbye.
And I am absolutely gutted for the two of us.
